Kindness Wraps

At Pirouette Petals, we believe dance is about so much more than trophies and winning. It’s about joy, friendship, and the magic that happens when you step onto the stage and share your love of dance with others.

That’s why Tianne created the Kindness Wraps initiative, a way to recognise dancers whose spirit shines just as brightly as their technique.

Why it matters to Tianne

As a pre-professional dancer, Tianne has experienced both the thrill of winning and the pressure that comes with it. Over time, that pressure began to affect her confidence and the joy she once felt every time she danced.

Eventually, she took a full 12 months away from competing to rediscover why she loved dance in the first place, the feeling of moving to music, the friendships, the personal growth, and the confidence it brought.

Now back in the competition world, Tianne carries that perspective with her. She knows firsthand that results are only one small part of a dancer’s journey, and that the dancers who inspire us most are often the ones who bring heart and kindness to the stage.

How it Works

At competitions Tianne attends, she chooses one dancer to receive a special Kindness Wrap.

It’s not about scores, placements, or medals, it’s about:

  • Dancers who light up the stage with their joy.
  • Those who cheer on their peers and show kindness backstage.
  • Performers who remind everyone why we started dancing in the first place.

The Kindness Wrap is a little gift, but also a big reminder: your passion and heart matter just as much as your results.

Looking Ahead

We hope to grow the Kindness Wrap initiative so it reaches more dancers and sparks more moments of connection and joy. Some ideas we’re exploring:

  • Giving the dance community a chance to nominate dancers they’ve seen showing kindness, courage, or encouragement.
  • Featuring past recipients on our website and social media so their uplifting moments can inspire others.
  • Encouraging dancers to complete small acts of kindness in their studios, with little surprise rewards along the way.
